2010!

Normally, I'd take this time to reflect upon 2009. However, today I'm working. I'm working in my cubicle at my normal 9-5er (off at 2). Then I'm off to work for my sister at a catering event (I serve). After that, I'm off to see a friend I haven't seen in a while. Nothing crazy for me, but that's normal. However, since all these occurrences require me to be away from a computer, reflection will have to wait until tomorrow. Along with the inevitable New Year's Resolution list...

I'd just like to wish everyone a very happy and safe New Year!

Raise your glass and cheers... Here's to 2010!

Merry Julianuary Cookie Exchange - Notes and checklist

Last night I got really into planning for Merry Julianuary. I started a notebook for notes and ideas.

and more notes!

I even purchased the invitations. They were originally Christmas cards but with a little modification, I think they work!

Yay!

Merry Julianuary Cookie Exchange

First, no that's not a misspelling. Julianuary is from Merry Madagascar - yet another movie in the Madagascar series. Very cute. I'd recommend it if you have youngins or it's just on t.v. (like it was for me).

Anyway...

My roommate, Stephanie, and I are planning on hosting a cookie exchange in January. So we've sort of borrowed the celebration title for our event! We'll have all our guest bring a box of cookies with an amount still to be determined (we'll need enough for everyone to have a taste but we haven't yet put a guest limit to the party in our small space). Also, since we're girls on a budget, we'll have everyone bring their own libations (of course, we'll provide some soft drinks and water but the hard stuff is up to everyone else). I really want to follow through with this idea and make it happen so I feel if I write down the details and post them publicly, I'm a bit more accountable...

Event Details

Guests will need to bring the following:

  • A pre-determined number of cookies so everyone gets one
  • The recipe for their chosen cookie
  • A container to take home all the deliciousness!
  • A drink of choice - if they want more then we're serving

Throughout the event, I'll take pictures of the cookies, the guests and all the festivities. Then as a thank you for coming to the event, I'll shortly afterward create a recipe book of the First Annual Merry Julianuary Cookie Exchange and give copies to everyone who shared in the fun!

Sounds pretty big to set up since January is literally less then a week away but I think we can do it! We got this!

Wake up Sunshine; Welcome to the blogging world!

Due to my lack of information on my blog site, I'm sure you can tell I'm new to this blogging thing. I really started it as a place for me to post my ideas, triumphs and terrific failures. Also, a place to help keep me accountable for the things I say I'm going to do but "never get around to it"... But how rude of me! You've already read an entire paragraph of ramblings and I've yet to introduce myself. So first things first.

Name: Krista (aka Sunshine)
Age: 25
Occupation: Full time Government Office Rat (that's my technical title) and part time student (7 years and still no BA... sad).
Married with Children: No to both but I have two cats; Lexus and Jetta. Yes, like the cars.
Hobbies: Sewing and crafts, cooking/baking, designing, bowling, repairs to my condo and dancing (my favorite thing EVER)
Pet Peeves: Idiot Drivers - 'nough said
Not-So-Secret Love Affair: GoGirl energy drinks, post-it notes, tea time and swarovski flat back rhinestones

Here are some recent pictures of my dancing events.

Here I am with my dance instructor, Kevin at Holiday Extravaganza 2009...

Here I am with my Mama at the same event... Charlie's Angels!

Mom and I danced with our instructors (Pedro with Mom and Kevin with Me) while the choir at work sang "A Christmas Waltz"...

I think that's good for an intro post, don't you?
